Gallery of fine art gift collection of Rajko Mamuzic was established by an act of the Municipality of Novi Sad on November 15, 1973, and officially opened on October 23, 1974, at the 30th anniversary of the liberation of Novi Sad. It is situated at the address Vase Stajica 1, in the family villa Radulovic.
Rajko Mamuzic (1914-1994) was a collector of this collection assembled of the creations of his friend, the artists who created individually or as part of a group of “Eleven”, “December group” and “Zadar group”. According to the legal texts written by Vera Jovanovic, Rajko Mamuzic was an extremely sharp critic, a lover of the art and had the opportunity to be in the company of Sava Sumanovic and reveal his methods of creating art which influenced his view of artistic creativity. In his collection are the most important Serbian artists of contemporary art: Vozarevic Lazar, Lazar Vukajlija, dole, Bosko Petrovic, Zoran Petrovic, Slava Bogojevic, Aleksandar Lukovic and many others. The collection also present work created in the first decade after World War II. At the beginning of the fund, the collection contained 438 works of art, including paintings, drawings, tapestries, sculptures and prints.
The building where the Gallery of fine art gift collection of Rajko Mamuzic is located has 600 square meters of exhibition space, with 3 floors. Space is also used for other cultural events. It is open to visitors on weekdays, except Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 17 pm. The fund of works of art was over time filled with donations of other collectors, so today’s gallery contains 933 works of art.
