Mika Antic (1932-1986) was born in Mokrin, near Novi Sad. He studied Slavic Studies in Belgrade. He worked as a journalist, a freelance reporter, and editor. He was also a director and screenwriter, but will forever be remembered as a poet.
He has published books for adults, but everyone remembered the following titles, poems for children: “Plavi čuperak”, “Garavi sokak”, “Nasmejani svet”, “Šašava knjiga”, “Olovka ne piše srcem”, “Ptice u šumi” and the other. At the spare time, he loved to spend time in Belgrade cafes because he was a bohemian. That kind of life made him sick. Before he died, on 24 June, he wrote a letter to Dudu in the neighborhood with the order to no one speaks at the grave at his funeral, but only someone can read his “Besmrtna pesma”(Immortal song).
His bust of bronze is located in the Danube Park. Created by the sculptor Paul Radovanovic in 1992. It is 165 cm high and placed on a stone foundation of irregular shape.
