The monument to Vasa Stajic is dedicated to Vasa Stajic (1878-1947) who was a famous Serbian writer, historian, political scientist and philosopher, as well as a cultural worker. He studied law and philosophy in European cities. He was an advocate of socialist ideas which is why he has often been condemned and persecuted. He has written several dozen books and scientific papers, and the most famous works are: “Novosadske biografije” and “Velikokikindski distrikt”. Vasa Stajic was declared as a life president of the Matica Srpska, after the Second World War.
The monument in his honor was erected on the occasion of Liberation Day of Novi Sad, in World war II. That sculptural work is a work of an artist and academic Slobodan Bodulic. It is located in front of the city Assembly and the Government of Vojvodina, in the park.
